FALL 2010

 

 

FALL SEMESTER
August 9-October 2
8 Week Semester - $125.00 per skater to include ISI Membership

8 Week Semester - $110.00 per skater with current ISI Membership Card

Classes include

 

  • 30 minute class – 25 minutes of instruction (once a week)
  • FREE Public Session & Skate Rental on the day of your lesson
  • 8 FREE Public Sessions
  • (2) make up privileges are available for most classes during the course of the semester
  • Make up classes are not allowed during Week 1 of the semester
  • Testing and Certificates are awarded the 7th week of the semester
  • Our Skating School follows the Ice Skating Institute program (ISI)
  • Pre Registration privileges for skaters in current semester during testing week
  • Student/Teacher ratio for Tot classes is 8 to 1. All other classes are 10 to 1.

 

 

Beginner Skating School Classes 

 

ICE TOTS 1 (Ages 3 & 4)

This class will introduce your child to skating, emphasizing the proper way to fall and get up, marching while standing, and forward marching across the ice. Dips, forward skating, balance and control will also be introduced. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday               6:30-7:00pm

- Monday               7:00-7:30pm

- Saturday            10:15-10:45am

- Saturday            10:45-11:15am

 

PRE-ALPHA 1

This class is designed for the beginning skater. Students will learn basic forward and backward skating, swizzles, one foot glides and snowplow stops. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday             6:30-7:00pm

- Monday             7:00-7:30pm

- Saturday           10:15-10:45am

- Saturday           10:45-11:15am

 

PRE HOCKEY 1

 

For the beginner skater wanting to play the game of hockey. Students will learn the basic forward and backward skating, swizzles, one foot glides and snowplow stops. Skaters must wear hockey skates in this class. Helmets are recommended for this class.  This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday             6:30-7:00pm

                           7:00-7:30pm

- Saturday           10:15-10:45am

                          10:45-11:15am

 

ADULT 1

No experience required! This introductory class takes you through the basic steps of learning to skate. It will follow the same basic criteria as Pre-Alpha 1 class. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday            7:00-7:30pm

- Saturday          10:45-11:15am

 

 

ADVANCED SKATING SCHOOL CLASSES

 

ICE TOTS 2 (Ages 3 & 4)

For skaters who have completed ICE TOTS 1. Students will start to learn forward skating, swizzles, backward wiggles, and snowplow stops. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday            6:30-7:00pm

- Saturday          10:45-11:15am

 

ADVANCED TOTS (Ages 3 & 4)

For young skaters who have completed ICE TOTS 1 & 2. The curriculum will follow the Pre-Alpha 1 & 2 levels. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday            6:30-7:00pm

- Saturday          10:45-11:15am

 

PRE-ALPHA 2 (Ages 5 & Up)

This class is for skaters who have completed Pre-Alpha 1 and may not be ready for the alpha or Hockey 1 level. Skaters will continue to progress using Pre-Alpha 1 curriculum and beyond. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday             6:30-7:00pm

- Saturday          10:45-11:15am

 

ADULT WORKSHOP

For Adult skaters that have completed ADULT 1. In this class skaters will learn more advanced skating moves, including forward and backward crossovers, ˝ jumps, spins, spirals and footwork. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday              7:00-7:30pm

- Saturday            10:45-11:15am

 

ISI FIGURE SKATING CLASSES

 

ALPHA LEVEL

In these class skaters will learn controlled forward stroking, forward crossovers and one-foot snowplow stops. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday               6:30-7:00pm

- Saturday            10:15-10:45am

 

BETA LEVEL

Beta level skaters will focus on backwards stroking, backward crossovers and T-stops. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday               7:00-7:30pm

- Saturday            10:15-10:45am

 

GAMMA & DELTA LEVEL

Forward outside three turns, Mohawks, hockey stops will be taught in the Gamma level. Delta skaters will focus on forward inside 3 turns, forward edges, lunges, shoot the ducks and lunges. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday               7:00-7:30pm

- Saturday            10:15-10:45am

 

FREESTYLE WORKSHOP

Skaters will learn the fundamentals of free skating; including backward edges, ˝ jumps, spirals, spins, jumps and footwork. This class meets for 30 minutes once a week at the following times:

 

- Monday               6:30-7:00pm

- Saturday            10:15-10:45am

 

 

 

HOCKEY SKATING CLASSES

 

PRE HOCKEY 1 (ages 4-14)

HOCKEY 101 (ages 4-14)

 

This is a 45 minute class to help prepare for a youth hockey league. Every week skaters will start with warm-up drills, and a review of the previous week. Each class is designed to teach the skaters a new skill in a logical progression. Skaters will learn skills such as proper stick handling, introduction to shooting and passing, and will overall increase their current skating skills. Skaters must be fully equipped in the first day of class.

The class meets once a week at the following time:

 

- Saturday        12:30-1:15pm (ages 4-14)

 

ADULT HOCKEY

For adult skaters wanting to learn good basic skating techniques and who eventually may be interested in playing in our Senior League Hockey Program. This class will follow the youth Hockey 1 & 2 program curriculum. Skaters MUST wear hockey skates in this class. This is a 30-minute class that meets once a week at the following time:

 

- Monday             7:00-7:30pm

ICE SKATING GIRL SCOUT PROGRAM

Brownie Try-It Workshop – This workshop is designed to introduce Brownie Girl Scouts interested in learning basic ice skating skills, or who choose it as their sport of choice. Open to Brownie Girl Scouts, grades 1 – 3.
Sports Badge Workshop – This workshop is designed for Girl Scouts interested in ice skating, or choose it as their sport of choice. Open to Junior Girl Scouts, grades 3 – 6.
Chose any day/time we offer public session.
$10.00 per girl, includes 45 minute workshop, skate rental, public skating, certificate. No Charge for Safety-Wise ratio adults. Other skaters $5.00.

 

CUSTOMIZE A GROUP CLASS

If you are interested in a group lesson and have 6 or more skaters, this custom program may be just what you need. You pick the day, any time during a public session, and we will be happy to schedule your group for a semester of lessons.

·        8 classes - $110.00 per skater.

·        30 minute class – 25 minutes of instruction.

·        Includes ice time & skate rental day of lesson, and 8 free public session passes.
